About
Wallspapers is a small, carefully edited library of nature and wildlife wallpapers. Every image on the site is either in the public domain, released under a Creative Commons licence that allows redistribution, or published with its creator's permission — and every image shows where it came from.
Why provenance matters
Most wallpaper sites never say where their images come from. Many are copied from photographers who never agreed to it. We think a wallpaper should be something you can use without wondering whether someone's work was taken. So each wallpaper page lists the creator, the original source, the exact licence and a ready-to-copy credit line.
How we choose images
We search open archives such as Wikimedia Commons, Openverse and the NASA Image Library for photographs that are sharp at large sizes, well composed, and work behind desktop icons or a phone clock. Each image is checked for its licence, resized, and given a written description of what it shows and the subject behind it. New wallpapers are published every day.
What we don't publish
- Images from platforms whose licences forbid redistribution on wallpaper sites.
- Images with "non-commercial" or "no derivatives" licences, since we crop images to fit different screens.
- Images showing identifiable people without clear rights to do so, as well as logos, trademarks and artwork by living artists.
